I have already bought a replacement shaft bracket and handle from NPD. It appears to me that this repair could be difficult as I read these posts. I want to be sure I know what I am getting myself into. Also if I have to take apart the window and stuff I may as well get all of the misc parts for that and get it over with ie. anti-rattle stuff.
Thanks for any help you guys may be able to provide

I've had to weld the lower vent window pivot back onto my frame on the passanger side. The worst part of that job was the upper part that rivets to the frame corroded off the pivot so I did want any quality back yard mech will do, I welded a washer to it and ground it down to slide into the frame. Works so much better now. There is a spring on the pivot shaft assembly used to apply tension to the vent window so it doesn't flap around. As for pulling the glass out of the frame I used a whole lot of patience and a few razor blades to cut the dried rubber to seperate the two.
I haven't completed the job since I have to pull the doors off to reskin the lower portions and weld a few cracks that have developed over the years from abusive door slamming and body checking to open them from not adjusting the latches. Once they come off the entire door is getting a major rework to repair/clean everything. I think the doors will take me longer then the suspension though. Oh this truck will be a work in progress long after my son graduates high school. But we will always have something to do.
