Vent window seal installation problems

Vent window seal installation problems
I just took apart my driver side door yesterday to change the window seals and had some trouble with the vent window rubber.
On my '69, the vent window rubber is a triangular piece. It has a stiff side that is riveted to the divisor frame. I drilled out the rivets to remove it.
The replacement rubber has the same stiff side, but no obvious way to attach to the frame.
I have tried super weatherstrip adhesive, but that doesn't work.
Has anyone replaced the vent window seal successfully?
This is one job I'd like to get right!
Thanks.
Ben

I just finish doing the same thing on my '71. I couldn't find any easy way to put rivets back in the stiff side, so I used contact cement. I used some 220 grit sandpaper to roughen the rubber and clean both sides with a degreaser the paint shops use.
Then carefully applied the contact cement to both sides with a small brush and let it dry.
It's been on about 2 weeks and so far it is holding up.

Not sure how simular, not too long ago replaced on 65. The kit should include replacement rivets. Purchased small piece of square stock metal. Wanted it so will set inside window channel and not damage felt. Also, thickness greater that the depth of the division bar channel, but not so thick that it is difficult clamping all the components together. Don't want a wobbling effect. Want to be able to put pressure on the head of the rivet while you flattened the other side. Inserted the rivet head in the window channel side, used clamp to hold all components together; window channel, division bar, vent seal channel, and vent seal, then flattened rivet to secure the componets together. Also suggest purchasing few extra rivets in case of mistakes.
Fortunately do not have to make sense of the process mentioned above. Anyhow, this is what worked for me. Hopefully, other members will be adding additional info and suggestions.
good luck,
dave
