vent window resealing
How much trouble is it to replace the rubber on the vent window? I have done the all the rubber on the main window itself. I have never tore into a vent window before but I cant live with that dang whisle any longer. I am either going to silicone it up or try to redo it. any advise??? O and what about a source for the parts I want good quality.

it is not the latch I have done the old penny or stack of penny's trick with luck in the past and it wont fix this problem. the leak is coming from the farthest forward area where it goes into a point at the bottom. you can press against the glass from the inside and seal it off. It just isnt making contact with the rubber any longer. It really doesn't seem that bad as far as the rubber goes just wont seal anymore.

Sounds like the frame is worn out or bent slightly.
Is the rubber still soft?
To remove the vent window, you will need to remove the door panel. You will notice two screws at the top of the door, and one inside holding the window run behind the door panel. You can remove the assymbly pretty easily.
As for replacement rubber and vent window frames, Auto Glass shops should be able to help. I believe the same exact Vent window frame was used on the F-600/F-900 trucks between 1980 and 1999. On F-150-F-350 the window frame changed in 1987, and again in 1992, and won't work with your current main window.

rubber is still there and still soft. Like I said put some pressure on it in toward the rubber and it will seal off. passanger side seals fine. Do you think I could just attemt to bent the frame in that direction and solve the problem or is that a bad idea.
It's hard to say. You do not want to break the glass. The frame is easily tweeked though. Usually by people using the handle/latch to close the door, or the run itself. etc... Probably wouldn't hurt to try. Just be careful of the glass.
Have you tried some white lithium grease on it? That'll hold out noise pretty well without making too big of a mess. Just put it on the seals and let the glass stick to it.

the year correct seals are at lmc and aint hard to do. a lot of times tho, you break the shaft off the bottom of the vent frame cuz the nut is rusted on there tightly.
if someone ever tries to break into the truck (very easy to open the vent latch with a tool) they often bend the vent frame such that the bottom (especially the front corner) no longer makes positive contact.
