Well we finally got to bring the civic in to get the bumper changed and painted. So we got a ford focus as a rental car. Im gonna compare the two and be 100 percent honest about the good and bad of both cars.
Keeping in mind this is a ford truck enthusiast website, I have no problem bad mouthing the focus, and my own personal civic im gonna be fair to them both though too!
So far the differences between the two cars is the focus is a four door, and an auto, and the civic is a 2 door and manual.
lol...funny guy. we'd both be on your azz so far i see the focus is far superior to the civic...
you know it pains me to say this, but i do agree with you that Ford has lost touch with the car market. they have taken the truck and SUV market i think, but may be lacking in the car market for now.
There is plastic in both cars. The ford plastic seems to be more rigid and cheap. The seating is extremly nice in the focus though. Seats are about the same for comfiness, but the focus you sit a little more upright. The civic seems more sporty just by the way you sit. So if you like the sporty seating the civic wins, if you dont like it the focus wins.
Power seems a little bit less then the civic, but this one is also an auto and the civic is a 5 speed.
Handling on gravel the civic has a slight edge. The focus seemed to want to weave and wander, although it was very minimal.
So far the one thing I dislike, and its minor, is the controls. The controls are squarish and not half as nice looking as the honda. Minor though.
Cant wait to take it out on the highway and see what shes like, all in all its way nicer then the 2 door focus we test drove before we got the civic.

I hear you loud and clear. Out of all the vehicles, cars and trucks, I am definatly a ford man. I dont praise every ford though, and i do tell it when i hear, read and research when ford has made a pos. Im very open minded that way.
I feel they really do have the truck market in their pocket. I wish they would do the same with cars, but the competition is really fierce in the car department.
Everyone wants their cars to be very fuel efficient, and last forever. Well ford has that nailed with their v-8s, but they are lacking with their smaller engines.
Oh well, they cant have everything perfect, they do a pretty decent job overall though.
personally i hate cars, but if i had to buy one, excluding the mustang, it'd be a fusion. i really like them. sat on one, it was super comfy, loads of room...
I agree with you Sherm 100% , I'm not a big car fan except for the mustang, but if we were to buy another new car it would be a fusion(would have bought one instead of the focus if they had been out at the time). As it looks for now I think it will be a Escape or Edge for Jen this fall. The Edge is leading though in a big way! The '09 Escape will have 30 more hp and a six speed auto, hmmm!!! but we will have to see what gas prices do this summer!
I know I have mentioned my reasons for the civic before, but here they are Strictly fuel milage car, it has a far better long term reputation then any other compact car out there.
Im a truck guy, or a v8 in a car guy. It sucks having to go small for the economy but ya do what ya gotta do.
I'll give a thumbs up for the Fusion. We have over a year on ours now and it has good room, good power, good fuel mileage and nice and solid chassis. Ours is the V6 SEL and I think it is better than the 4 cylinder.
