Ok when the 08 F-250 got here it didn't have the factory switches in it. Had the brake controler but not the switches. We Bought the switches and then the little Harnness to plug into the back of the switches.
NOW the problem comes in. One would think that the wires for the switches to the fuse panel would be behind the dash... Well if SO I have not been able to find them. And Ford tells me to bring it to them. Yea Right I'll Hard wire the things before I pay 100 a hour for them to do it.
If anyone knows of a Diagram for this please shot it to me. If you know where the wires are then please let me know as well.
On the 05-07 trucks, the upfitter switches go to the upfitter relays that are just above the glovebox. So take a look behind the passenger side glovebox to see if that is where they will hook up to.
I had the same problem finding good information. The relays go on the drivers side on the 2008. The wires come out of the harness next to the relays, which is really close to where the customer access wires are that go through the firewall. The plug for the power is above the gas pedal. You have to lay on your back with your head by the gas pedal and look up. There is a empty plastic plug in the wiring harness that needs to be removed before you plug in your relay wire.
When you look at the diagram in the pdf file above it's looking at the dash from the engine side. Here is the wiring diagram and some pictures that help also.
Thanks for the Help. I have gotten the Top Link to work. But I still can't get the second to come up. But I am sure this will help out a BUNCH. Let you know once we have gotten to it.
THanks 94yj. I got it to work earlier. When I looked for the wires and stuff that they listed none of it was there. : ( Oh well back to the ole drawing board. I tried to tell him not to just buy a truck. Now he will learn his lesson cuz Or I will since I am the one that has to figure out how to make this D@m# thing work. THANKS AGAIN for the help!
When you got the upfitter kit did you get these parts (7C3Z-14A303-A), switches (7C3Z-13D730-AA), relays? The 2008 uses a different kit then any other year. Here is a link to where I got mine. As far as the other links I sent you, just copy and paste them in the address bar of Internet Explorer. This forum adds a bunch of junk to links so when you post a link with HTTPS in front it doesn't work. Sorry about that I didn't know it did that.
That is what it was we did not have, the Relays. Oh well We got it to work last night. Well almost all the way. Took a BUNCH of trial and error. But After running a lead from the battery, headlight switch, and a ground. We got all but #2 switch to work. Lights and all. I had 2 wires that I could not get any power out of. And when I put power to them I could not make anything work Either... We only wanted to be able to use 2 switches anyways so we just wired it all up and went to town. BUT now that I see that we also need the relay harness, yea I see now where to plug it all in at. Oh well live and learn. Thanks for all your help CG. We build Towtrucks so if I have one come in w/o a switch box I will at least know where to go to get the whole kit.
Those switches don't have much of an amperage rating, they are only made to turn the relays on. I won't wire anything directly to them without using a relay. With the part your missing it will give you two 30 amp and two 10 amp fused circuits. If you tie into the headlights you can have issues because it's monitored by the computer. I would get the Ford relays. The plus to having the factory relays is that the wires are already powered and fused in addition to being located right next to the customer access wires going through the firewall.
