Sad thing is that its not because of ULSD refining that diesel is more then gas now. In most european countries, including australia and new zealand, their ULSD is cheaper then regular gas.
You cannot simply compare fuel prices of other countries with those in America. The tax systems are different over there.
Hold off on patting Clinton on the back...I believe he reaped the rewards of tax cuts put in place by Bush 1...From what I've seen, when ever tax increases/decreases are put in place by one administration, their effects usually arent felt until the next one takes office.
OOOPS!...Got another correction...just drove by a gas station with diesel at 3.56...Thaaaats gonna leave a mark! Wait a minute...
I luv my 250, I luv my 250, I luv my 250.......

seems taxes are rampant in some states, origonally there was state income tax or state sales tax now some have both
Like Minnesota.
Sales tax and income tax. Now, the sales tax differs depending on the county and city because of the stupid hippie programs that politicians want. Then there are the wheelage tax. A tax based on where you primarily keep your vehicle. Silly MN.

New Zealand actually has a higher tax on diesel, then gasoline, yet their ULSD is STILL cheaper then regular gaslone there. Taxes wouldn't explain why diesel was cheaper 4 years ago

I think greed controls that,if you raise gas prices people tend to drive less, but that's not an option with diesel with everyone in the US depending somehow on it,so they can tax and gouge and it only hurts the consumer
i never use my superduty unless i absolutly have too. if i can move stuff with my little diesel jetta,,i use the little trailer and the truck dosent move. if i did not need a truck, i sure wouldnt own one.

We pay NY State Income Tax
We pay NY City Income Tax
We pay 8.375% Sales Tax
A two year registration on my F350 is $192
Diesel is 4+ dollars a gallon
And now our wonderful mayor wants to add a $21 a day surcharge if you drive into Manhattan.
I guess if they could figure a way to charge for the air, they would. Oh wait - they do - it's called an annual emissions inspection.
