Fords IDS can change it up to a certain size... it may only be 35's though, and you are running 37's -> are you planning on running any bigger?
I haven't checked with the 08's but I assume the speedo is still taken from the VSS from the ABS, which means its just a digital pulse signal, and you can buy a box to add-on to ramp up the pulse speed/reduce it as required.
Superlift makes a box called TruSpeed. It is the most popular. Not 100% sure but I think they are around $180-$200. But you can program 2 sizes which would be good for you.

very true, even though ford didn't join the "common rail" group until now, they have continued to stay alongside dodge and chevy in the HP/TQ figures for production vehicles...
now modified is a different story, and yes it's a tad easier to get more power out of the CR, but ford was always right in the middle of the battle..
and i must say, the 6.4 is quite an impressive setup.. when i drove to NC to have matt build my motor he had just picked up his 08 the day before i got there... it still had the dealer plate on the back and was BONE STOCK..
and it was hanging w/my truck when it was stock w/a SCT turned up pretty high... i was impressed with how fast it was in stock trim !!
Thats weird, my stock 03 6.0 stays right with my dads stock 08 6.4, we went from 60 km/h to 100 km/h and he just had a jump on me right away then it was completely even. Honestly though my truck has always felt really powerful, I pull on other stock 6.0's and I keep up with my buddies stock 07 cummins
i wouldn't call it a 'new' motor.. just because it was offered for sale this year.. ford has been testing this motor for quite a while now.. for years in fact..
they've logged over a MILLION miles on these motors before finally making it to production for sale... i seriously doubt anything such as a "huge defect" would show itself now after all the testing they've done.
Agree, and with the fact the 6.4 small block is based off the 6.0 small block with little changes.
Honestly, I can't either. It still has not slipped even once to date I do know that the 2003-2007 transmissions will NOT hold 900+torque at the wheels even periodically. Supposedly these are the same transmissions internally, but I'm having a hard time believing that at this point...considering I'm approaching 10,000 tuned miles and the fluid is still blood red
Hey Matt, how is your AFE intake holding up. Did you figure out how to keep the CEL from coming on. Havent put mine back on yet tell thats figured out.
and did I read that right that GM was in the lead???? Ha thats funny!
Funny or not it's true. It's been dyno proven as well as at the track. Please don't jump all over ME, I'm a FORD guy but I'm not gonna lie to myself about the numbers and they're pretty close.
hmmmmmmm, Everything I know about the history of the chevy deisels (which insn't very much) isn't very exciting..... How long did they run the 6.5 L? and I don't think it was ever a super star for power. I believe it was somewhat reliable at the end but even my chevy freinds hate them...
The duramax is doing OK and is very comparable to the Ford and dodge but in Canada the only people that drive them are Geriatric's so they don't modify them at all!
I certainly wasn't referring to the 6.5L. The Duramax had some head problems when they first came out but seem to be a very reliable engine. I was referring to the new motors and Chevy seems to be doing very well on the dyno tests that have been posted as well as the track and street races people on the boards have talked about...
