AC heat

This is probibly an OLD trick but I searched all kinds of threads and couldnt find it. I'm sure that you guys know that if you crank your AC in a 97 ps in the winter it gets HOT in there fast!!! I'm not sure about 94.5-96 though. For those of you who already know the trick than I'm sorry for the SPAM. Just my 2.....

If you are talking about Max AC then yep, you get more air flow....through the vents though...no defrost mode. That's because it's re-circulating the (warm) cabin air instead of drawing fresh (cold) air from cowl. This ain't spam, good advice...keep posting your ideas/tricks.

IDK if your 97 is the same as my 96, but that darn pump is always on except in the vent or floor mode

Some guys disconnect the AC clutch to get more heat too but that makes the defrost mode take longer to clear the windshield.

I gotcha, I put that up there 2 see what you guys had to say about it, good/bad? I did it for 80k each winter with no problem... I just remember that it was an inferno and with just the heat it would defrost the windshield. I was reading some threads about warm up time and I was of the opinion not to let er idle tooo long when cold, get the oil psi up + a few min and then go easy.... Seemed to work for me. I think idleing messes w the EBV, mine was hanging up for the last 10k of ownership or so....

it wont hurt the compresser but any uneeded on time is taking away clutch life no matter how you look at it.

Yeah I hear that, I guess it all comes down to priorities..... I always plugged that truck in when it was below 25 or so just because I thought it was good for it, less wear on the engine at start up. I know it didnt need it though, the first winter I had it it started up w one key cycle on a -35 morning.....What do you think about plugging it in Joe?

I almost never plug mine in. It always starts, even way below zero. The block heater can use up to 1500 watts of power = 15 x 100 watt light bulbs. IDK how much that amounts to in $$ but it's gotts add up. It's nice to have a warm cab in the morning though
