T-Stat change

This may seem really dumb/simple to you, but I'm changing my first T-Stat manana. I got the right T-Stat (192 degree) from NAPA and gasket. I got a 302, any tricks I should know about? I'll make sure I got the right side in...

I'd recommend using Cop-R-Cote gasket sealer (spray) to prevent leaks.

Does that water proof the gasket?

Not really - the gasket is already waterproof. It fills any gaps in the surfaces and helps hold the gasket in place while you're tightening the parts down.
