hey i know bout 4 wheelin. ive got my flatbed truck to do that in. Just wna tthe crew to be a nice truck. ive went farther than and pulled my fair share of chebbies and heeps out.
its not so much the carbon fiber or the glass but the 6 inch power buldge with a stock motor that gets me... and the orange paint on a bronco does someone we know have this????
The real carbon fiber hoods are they way too go. 10x stronger than steel, and 3x as light.
the strength is true but my old neighbors 350z stock hood wieghted the same as his carbon fiber hood. partially because to use hinges and latches it had to be reinforced with steel plates. but they weight wasnt a trade off. this was a show car so he just wanted the looks.
I dont see why strength is even a factor unless you regularly do the hokey pokey on your hood. Weight is supposed to be less but like Littleme said the CF needs to be reinforced to handle the stress.
They look ok but personally wouldnt use one on anything I own.
on the street i dont see the point for what it cost. he paid 900 for a hood that weighted as much as his stock and didnt seem much stronger. he only bought it for looks. his car was all show, it had some go and was setup for drift but it never did. that car didnt even have windsheild wipers. but it looked good enough to take second in his class at nopi nationals so he did something right.
