yep saw it today... Green chevy... stacked lift blocks... Stacked body lifts and its was 2wd. Saw a mexican drivin it today... bought wrecked my truck when i saw it from laughin...
ive seen people do this, seen it hold up ok but i dont think its a good idea, yeah you might have a better angle for the ****** and make the ****** more effective, but you could also pull the axle out from under your truck, just seems a little shakey to me
I'd definatly see the axle wrapping around and coming out of the truck or at least the u bolts letting go.
to be fair, most trucks ive seen this one had 4 links, but thats besides the point.......if anything pulling from up by the bumper is harder on stuff......you have to think, is the truck stuck in the mud, is it trying to stay still, no the axle is.......the axle is what is holding the truck back......
so when you pull from the truck (up higher) the axle is still trying to stay in the mud while you pull the truck, putting more stress on all the parts........pulling from the axle (the part thats holding the truck back) is putting all the force on the thing thats stuck, the truck will move easily with the axle.....
Believe me, I've thought about it both ways several different times...
IF you can break a hitch reciever in half by jurking off of it, I don't want to know what would happen if you were jerking on the axle....
I've seen people do it, usually not stuck that bad, and don't have any other tow point to use...
I'll never do it.
You can try at mud fest, and if everything holds up fine, I might change my mind about it, but untill then.......I think I'll stay with a shackle attatched(sp?) to the frame some how.
I just see something bad happening.....plus, some times when you're stuck bad, you can't get to the hitch, much less the axle....
