One of my friends kind of stacked i guess,he had a programer programed on onto his truck and he also had a custom tuned chip that he added and plugged it into the pcm and it ran for a couple day and he said it had very good power then it started to run bad and died eventually and never would start again,he though he had fried the pcm so he replace that and still had a no start so he made a huge jump and pulled the engine and stuffed a junkyard pull into it,still no start, then he replaced IDM and it fired up like a beauty, and of course he never stacked chips again,he was even scared to hook up his ts 6 pos chip but i convinced him to hook it up but never stack them again and he did and all was good,id say never stack any chip with a powerstroke,i hear all the time that you shouldn't stack chips on powerstrokes and i now know why and i will never try it after seeing that mess, good luck to ya

A programmer and chip cannot be stacked. The chip will always override the program flashed onto the PCM.

Does that mean the idm getting fried was maybe from another problem?or do you think that still caused the idm to burn up?this whole programmer and chip stuff is pretty new to me im just learning and trying to figure it all out hahah

Yeah. The IDM frying would not be from running a chip over a program. Once the chip is installed, the program is no longer there until the chip is removed.
