Programmer Recommendations

Looking to install a programmer on my new to me truck. I am not interesting in the high performance settings but would like a little more power for the Truck Camper that I will be hauling and in better mileage. I have read and have had many tell me that their mileage was improved in the Tow setting of their programmer over the stock settings.

Would like your advice and input on two models from Edge but would be open to other recommendations;

1) First option: Edge 7.3 Evolution 15000,
Edge 7.3L Evolution 15000 :: Programmer for your 94-03 Ford Powerstroke

2) Second option: Edge Diesel Evolution CTS California Edition 85201,
https://edgeproducts.com/products/di...edition-85201/

Another question I have, do I need the GTS sensor if I am not going to run the programmer in the performance mode or is it necessary to ensure that the system will automatically defuel.

Papa Charlie- Welcome to FTE. I would highly encourage you to check out a couple sections before purchasing a tuner. First link is for the 7.3 diesel section. They have several threads regarding maintenance, tuning and modifying your engine. Second is the Washington chapter.

Do you have gauges or a way to monitor what your engine is doing? What are your current mods?

I had good luck with my DP for the 3 years that I had an F Super Duty with 7.3.
Also, check Google The Diesel Stop. Great information there on 7.3s.

My truck is equipped with the standard analog dash gauges. I was considering the Edge CTS because it provides additional information, especially with the GTS installed.

I will check out the links. Thanks

If you have a 7.3 all you hear first is install a DP Tuner. Everyone who has one loves them and all they do is tell other 7.3 owners to get one, people even switch to DP who had different tuners and after the DP their 7.3 is a completely different animal

You obviously don't read much on here then.....

There are plenty of people who love DP tuners but there are just as many who like others.

DP is by no means the BEST out there. There is no single BEST out there.

Interesting how a Moderator (Toreador Diesel) switched from I believe a DP to Gearhead and likes it even more. To say there is only one tuner is just wrong.
