Okay, so, checked it, and the broken wire was one of the ones I needed. At least I found that out. Picked up a plug while I was out, and I'll replace it tomorrow.

Oil isn’t the problem.

I’ve ran diesels for years. I use a heavy duty oil. 15-40 retells preverably because it’s around about anywhere. This helps engine life. The shifting issues are not caused by injectors. Cold operation is what is the biggest problem here from what I’ve gathered. That motor needs to be running for twenty to thirty minutes in colder weather to run properly. Also in my opinion batteries will usually solve most all of these problems. I work outside in the elements everyday. So I never use the block heat. I feel that if that truck don’t start in the cold morning after 7 or 8 hrs setting cold. I’m screwed after work cause there is no plug in in the woods. This is opinion and slot of fact. A truck should start well in any condition of weather. Any diesel is gonna run rough when cold. They are designed to perform at top level when at operating temp.

It's fairly obvious that you don't know Jack squat about 6 litre diesel. 15W40 of any kind is just about the worst possible winter oil you could use in temperatures significantly below freezing. Secondly there is absolutely no reason why you need to idle it for 20 or 30 minutes for it to run good what complete b*******. Run a 5w 40 heavy duty synthetic diesel approved motor oil, and all you need is two to three minutes and then it drive moderately. Within 3 minutes of idle time, according to the torque app my temperature has increased significantly from what it was when it was started. Please refrain from you're useless incorrect information we're not dealing with your Granddaddy's 1950 diesel tractor anymore
