I needed a new cord so I did a search and found this thread. I would like to chime in on this. There is another thing that can help on those cold mornings,,,,you can cycle the key at least three times (waiting for the glow plug light to go off each time) and that will help to warm the cylinder for combustion. Also, the injectors will have a hard time firing with low voltage (which means the engine might crank, but without enough power to fire the injectors, it wont start. I would suggest that if it doesnt even act like it wants to start on the first 5 seconds of trying, go ahead and get the batteries up to voltage, rather than draining them all the way before you jump it or charge it. Hopefully this helps someone out there.

Cold weather! Started up alittle sluggish and ran 2 blocks then lost all power. Tried to restart and wouldn't, got towed back to the house and figured it was a fuel issue and changed out fuel filter's, topped off fluids, and added Lucas Injector Cleaner. Plugged in heater cord over night 30's over night and still won"t start today! Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated!

I sould suggest get some of the power service 911 in the red bottle and open up your upper fuel filter housing and put some in there, then put the rest into the tank. sounds like you are gelled up. I would suggest using Howes fuel treatment (or QMI fuel treatment is good stuff too). Hopefully its not a hpop problem (high pressure oil pump), sounds like the 911 in the red bottle is what you need. I keep one in the truck at all times in the winter (though oddly enough I have never had to use it). I am pretty liberal with the Howes in the cold(I actually use it year round, just much lighter in the summer and it has worked for me for 370k so far).

Will do on the 911, contacted dealer service and they had me cycle the ignition 4-5 times to prime the pump and give her a shot and now the batteries are on the charger. Damned cold spell! Will see what happens with a full charge. keepin my fingers crossed and appreciate the advise!

Just as an FYI: This is in the 6.0 TECH Folder regarding heater cord routing.

it won't hurt anything but your wallet.3 hrs seems to do the trick and it draws about a 1000 watts.a timer is the answer or have the little women get up at 3 am and run out and plug it in for you,

I have found that even an hour and a half works fine at outside temps of 10 degrees. Starts right up with minumul "chugging" for a minute or so. Three hours+ and it will start up smooth like it's 90 degress outside.

you want the ebay link? otherwise it's a dealer item at about 110 $,, I wouldn't use the IH version directly from them as it won't have the chafe protection and snap in holders like the ford version ,,
