I saw those on eBay and I could not understand why someone would pay that much for something you could just go down to the junk yard and get for no more than $20. Media blast and paint/powder coat them and call it done. Well the seller is smiling all the way to the bank :-).
It always amazes me that some people will pay more for item on eBay, when they could get the same item for less elsewhere. Along the same line are the sellers who's starting price is at or above the price you could get it elsewhere and they usually want more for shipping than the retailer would charge. Another thing I really dislike on eBay are sellers who use reserve pricing. I think more times than not they end up losing a sale, because the reserve was not met. I have lost out on items I was bidding on that had reserves, because no one else was bidding on the item, so the price never goes high enough to meet the reserve. The seller should just put the minimum value they'd be willing to accept right from the start and stop playing these games. Well I feel better now that I got that off my chest
The guy who won that could have saved serious money if he had waited till the last minute to bid $320 on those things. I think he could have won those for $150 or less.
The tow hook phenomenon blows me away, especially for 67-72 Chevy trucks. If you are lucky to find a set that were 72 only, you can get $600 for them!!! :fire:
Yea i was watching these on fleabay too and just shook my head in disbelief!!!. Hope the buyer knows they were only available on F150's and Bronco's. They were not on the F250 or F350 according to my 1978 parts book.
I have a set off my 78 F150. They are for Sale!!!!!!! LOL
Some people just have money to burn. Why would someone pay that much for them? Just like Vanity Mirrors in sunvisors. I can certainly find something else to pay good money for. But, I am amazed on people overpaying for certain items, especially when you can get Original tooling items new for less than what people pay on ebay for.

I do know what NOS parts are and sometimes paying the big dollar for a genuine NOS part is worth it, but a Ford tow hook is not worth spending the big buck IMO. I'm sure I could find a set of Ford tow hooks on a southern Ford truck and have them looking like new for well under $50. I bet a good share of the people who had these hooks on their trucks have never even used them. What I'm saying is a tow hook is something that is very easily salvageable and is something that most people will never see anyway. I also have a 1954 GMC pickup I'm restoring and I did spend big money on eBay for a genuine GMC NOS Clock that is quite rare, so I'm sure the guy who bought the tow hooks will be quite happy with them, but I would never spend that kind of cabbage on tow hooks.
I fully understand the value of NOS parts on a show quality truck. But I don't drive a show quality truck, never will. Even if I did I couldn't justify spending 300+ dollars on tow hooks. The hooks I have on my truck were free, are 10x as beefy as those stockers and are definitly not jap crap (I got 'em off of a Freightliner where I work).
No I Did Not Buy Them I Sold Them It Is Like The Nos Woodgrain Steering Wheel I Seen Go On Ebay For Over 600.00 I Guess Different Strokes For Different Folks On Buying Nos Parts And Like The Person Said You Could Go To The Junk Yards To Get These Good Luck In Finding Them They Did Not Come On Every Truck And Broncos And As Much As Gas Is You Might Have 300.00 Into Them Time You Get Done Looking Feightliner Is Not Ford Cross Breeding I Say Stick To Nos
Shortbox, no offense but it makes it very hard to read when you capitalize the first letter of every word. Maybe you should try writing like a normal person in the future.
