Question...

Is it cross-breeding if I used a Mercury truck pickup bed from Canada on my '72 F100?

I would like to introduce you to a good friend of ours, his name is "punctuation." In his arsenal he has things that help us communicate, things like commas and periods. If I would be so bold to make a recommendation, please try to use at least one of those now and then, it might help some of us understand what you are trying to say. I do have to give you an atta boy for not typing in all caps.

I do have to say I am jealous that you got $300 on a set of $40 tow hooks.

Whether some fellow members agree with it or not.Theres a entire cottage industry out there concerning NOS parts. At fairs, car shows and Ebay.Unless someones hording them.Theres probably only 20-30 sets of those tow hooks that remain in the box and are in new codition after being 20-30 years old out there.Depending on when they were made.To me even though there just tow hooks. There like gold to some people that want to put a in new condition Ford original part on their restoration and are willing to pay big for the privaledge.I say good for Shortbox that he was able to get that kind of money.I wish I had a set to sell.I also don't think it's very cool that if we disagree with someone's opinion in here we start attacking ones writing tecnique.Everybody has different styles

mwvdub. That is a nice truck. Please tell me that you dropped a big block in it. I'm trying to do a similar project with a 76 highboy. Maybe once I finally get out of grad school I will be able to afford some nicer modifications.

I do not need glasses to see that you type in giant run-ons without punctuation. An occasional strategic placement of a period will not hurt you any. I believe in your abilities to find it, I seen that you used it two times when typing out numbers.

Good luck, and thanks for trying to play the game.

obviously you've never heard of junkyard searches online. I venture to say that you could find those under the $300 mark and 300 dollars in gas? you mean someone is going to drive a 1000 miles looking for that? ehh thats why we have shipping if they are found far away......oh well you praciticed our free market society. I am sure you could find ones in worse condition for a lot cheaper and restore them to a lot cheaper but someone bought them. more power to you then.

and condolon it wouldnt be cross breeding it'd be inbreeding being mercury is owned by ford

No it's not, and it's not "JaPCrAp" (tryed for some authentic quoting there) like you previously advised on not using.

So let's look at my truck and what's not NOS, stereo, rear window, wheels, tires, suspension, cam, lifters, intake, carb, air cleaner, oil filter, bumpers, lug nuts, tach, mirrors, pushbar, draglink, ujoints, engine oil, wheel seals, tranny fluid...........oh where to stop !!!

Well, it's not so much as capitalization and making complete sentences (although it would be easier to read) as it is in deceptive advertising. In that original ebay ad he says " AND I DID A SEACH ON FORD AND THESE ARE THE ONLY ONES IN THE U.S. THAT WAS TO BE HAD LIKE I SAID VERY RARE". Sure sounds like the power of words to get the price jacked up. And then a few days later he "finds" another set and has them for sale. That is why it is hard to believe ALL ebay sellers.

BTW - i've got a set of tow hooks off my 78 F150 - i'm sure they can be found in junkyards more easily than what 79shortbox believes. Any offers on them? lol

Oh, OH, we got some punctuation going, that is a good sign. Oh, and Mr. Forum Vigilante, we have enough of you already, please put down the baton and step away from the keyboard.

Not that it really matters, but if I had to guess a reason why you decided to list the second set, it would be that you never guessed your first set would sell for so much more money than what you paid for them, and its time to cash in while the market is so hot. It is your stuff, and you are not forcing anybody to buy anything, so more power to you for stumbling across a buyer willing to pay that kinda scratch for tow hooks. Like I said before, I am jealous (seriously) that you found these, and were able to make such a profit off of them.

oh ok well did you purchase them for $300? and decided to be neighborly and just sell them at the same price because they are so rare? very very very doubtful, you made a profit more power to you. But you were misleading, and now I am conviced it wasnt taht you knew that you could probably find these easier than getting them off ebay and even probabl a whole lot cheaper, it was that you never knew. Ignorance is bliss. But really my older sister does a junkyard search for her business and she told me after looking up all the price parts that you could get them a lot cheaper than $300. But again I say you made the money someone bought them, right on. Learn your facts, those are definitley not the only ones in the U.S. or Canada, and they arent $300 dollars if you find them somewhere else.
