loyal i am. Fords done me good and if i have problems i have to remember that its a piece of machinery and none of them are perfect, import included. as for market share, its pointless to sell the most vehicles if you are losing money on them. better off selling less and keeping out of the red than loss leading!!
For sure, why sell alot of crap. People dont continue buying crap either though! The f150 is staying at the top for a reason.
Ford is going down for a reason. I have no doubt they will go up yet, they are a huge company and have all the means to get back in there. They might just need a kick in the @ss to get em going!
no doubt they need to pick up their socks, but i think they are wise in not pushing out new stuff that could turn into a new early 6 litre. spoke to another 6.4 owner today. F350 crew dually 4x4. he's a rockwork contractor in calgary and loves every inch of it other than the dents he collected from hitting a deer.
Ive still read and heard mixed stories about the 6.4 liter. Ill have to ask alot more guys out in the patch that drive them what they think of them. Most of those guys drive their trucks hard, and they arent shy, they will tell ya if its good or not!
yeah, its best to hear the real life stories. i've seen a lot of the young riggers trading in the 6.0's for the new 6.4's. there's getting to be a few of them out there.
Yeah, but you know Im not sure if they are trading their 6.0s up because their specific 6 liter is bad. Alot of those guys get brand new trucks every year, just to get a brand new truck every year!
Ive also found out a bunch of those guys lease them, so they kind of trick people into thinking they can always afford a brand new truck, they just lease them!
I have no idea. I assume they must have bought them if they lifted them. I see alot of them non lifted with fancy tires and rims too. But i assume the lifted ones are most likely boughten.
Ford needs to bring some of there other vehicels over into North America that are sold over sea's!! I was looking at some ford sites from other countries this evening and found some really cool stuff! A diesel focus, convertible focus, diesel ranger and explorer, and a family sedan with a 348hp 5.4l under the hood, plus a lot more cool stuff!!!!
I heard on driving TV the Taurus believe it or not is still Fords best seller, they market it as a fleet vehichle so don't make much from sales.
Totally false.
That may have been true in 2005, but the last time I checked the calendar, it's now 2008.
Where, or where do these ppl get their info?
2008 Taurus sales are slim and none, despite all the improvements made over last years 500 model. There was no 2007 Taurus. It was dropped when the 500's came out, and the 500's, despite being a vast improvement over the previous Taurus, were bland in styling and underpowered...using basically the same 'ol Taurus V6 3.0 engine that's been around since 1986.
Crown Vic's are now sold as fleet vehicles only.
Best selling Ford passenger car = Fusion.
Why has the F150 been so succesful, especially recently against new trucks from GM, Toyota and Nissan?
Fleet sales: Sales to large commercial accounts, Gov't agencies, etc.
F150's have owned these markets for years, but fleet sales don't put money in Fords coffers.
And...if fleet sales (roughly 40% of all F150's sold) are taken away from F150's total sales, the reality sets in.
Sales to individual consumers have been dropping since the 3 buck a gallon gas prices of 2005. If the 2009 F150 fails to reverse this trend, Ford will be in even worse shape financially, than they are now.

Yeh gas prices are really hurting truck sales. But the housing market has hurt as well. The economy as whole is not doing very well. Fords Fusion has done well because they have rally promoted that car. It has been advertized heavily. The 500 was really an excellent car very well built an lots off interior room an it had good power really from the one I drove. Yeh the styling wasnt the best but it was a good car. However it wasnt really advertized that much. Ford might have dropped the ball on that one. GMs trucks are all new an have been slow sellars as well. Ive heard GM has way to much inventory off the new trucks so they have to rebate them tremedously now to move them. Ford seen the slowdown coming an cut back production. An off couse Toyota has put a dent with there new trucks out.
Thats good he found luck with the ford Sherm. Bad thing is you can find a guy for every make/model with a rock solid story!
I know a ton of guys from each make that swear by their makes. I find the best way is to go out and try to experience them all, then you can make educated assumptions on which ones are good and bad lol.
Great post Preppy!
And that's the bottom line of every p**sing contest that goes on in the vs competition forum. People making assumptions about products they have no experience in. Only that they have had good experience with their "brand" of product and it's impossible that something else can be as good.
"Having an open mind" or "Global economy"
Both are such easy concepts and yet alot of people have a hard time of grasping it.
Sure dont seem like that they just say ford sucks for the helluva it seems anyways most of them never driven or even owned they still say they break down and there no good pfffttt
