The January BS thread

Hey Jake - I tried out Alltel's wireless card for my laptop. It sucked! It was barely tolerable in Omaha, then when I moved up here to the Sioux City area, it was slower than dial-up. It was constantly dropping the connection too. And, the monthly plan was about $60. I returned that thing real quick before my 30 day trial period was up. That type of service will probably improve, things like that always get better.
A lot of places have wi-fi now, Starbucks, etc. I'm sure they are working on a way to charge you for it too!

School is pretty good. NE Machinery has a sponsorship program with CCC. They pay books, tuition, and give you $2500 for tools. You get decent grades (2.0.....NOT THAT HARD), jump through a few other hoops, and work for them for 2 years. I have a summer internship at Columbus, and that's where I'll be after I get out Spring of 09. Those are my plans. I'm really hoping I can get moved to Doniphan as it's a bit closer to home but we'll see. Maybe I'll find that I like Columbus. I'll be closer to alot of you guys, and farther away from the girlfriend......I guess that means I'll have more time......(don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining that she occupies most of my free time!!!!)

I have a couple of friends who went to CCC in Hastings for Neb. Machinery and got awsome jobs. Good pay, and they send you on trips to get schooled on the new equiptment. One of my friends was a mechanic, then he scored a head salesman job out in Scottsbluff, Neb. Sometimes he and his wife get sent on trips for selling a bunch of stuff as an inscentive. Good line of work and program I would have to say.
