The reason I asked is because my head gasket is seeping coolant on the left side of the head , If I let the truck sit for 2 or 3 days I get a small drop of coolant on the floor . Im going to pull the head & replace it in the next few weeks . Its ok now , but with summer coming it aint going to get any better with the added heat , Plus at 173K miles this will be the first major repair the engine has had so I can fuss too much .
With your truck Id have a real close look at the water pump weep hole or the radiator , esp the left side tank . You can have leaks in either of those two places & because the leak is small its very easy to overlook them . If you arent getting any interior or exterior leaks at the head gasket , look the engine over very carefully , esp look for the white trails coolant leaves when it leaks .
Paul, did the head gasket Yesterday took about 6.5 hours and $64.00 for the upper gasket kit. It was seeping a little on the left side in the back , hard to fine!! But its done for now and runs great .. Went ahead and did a complete tune-up also while i had it all apart. Runs great!!!!
