Im lookin to have both trucks undercoated due to the notorious road salts being known to eat your truck away like cancer. How much? Is it worth it? Thanks
I took my 97 to Ziebart when I got it a year ago since it was a southern truck it was still rust free. It cost me $400 for which seems to be a good product. Time will be the biggest factor. Included in that cost was a 1 year check up and touch up which I need to get done soon. There are lots of options out there from DIY stuff to Ziebart type stuff.

No disrespect intended to TJ....
Depending on the year of the Veh. (post 89 -90. Thy use a special anticorrosive step , coating the steel.. You will have better luck without under coating , if you just keep it clean ,& a light grade of oil inside the panels. Take the wheel trim off every year & clean under it , was the engine compartment ,Inside fenders bottoms of doors , & underside...Under coating may help in some areas , but hurt in others...
Been studying this for a looooong time ....JMO...

what if that factory coating is long gone and rust (just surface, not anything heavy....yet) has taken its place? are there any options that dont cost thousands of dollars?

the underbody, frame, etc. all four doors have serious rust on the inside of the door at the bottom, and of course around the mounting points for my mirrors on the front doors, where the bolts go into the doors. a couple of months ago, i started busting the rust on the inside of the doors, intending to repaint and stop it from getting worse. well, before the rust was all knocked away, there were holes through to the outside.

The under body & the frame can be treated with any thing that encapsulates the rust ,, the doors sound like the need to be replaced,,,,
