I removed the floor mat from the back area of my super cab and found what looks like some bad swiss cheese. Other than replacing the floor or entire cab, what are my options? I'm not after a 1st place show winner, but I want a nice looking truck when I'm done. I don't live in the rust belt, but the previous owner may have.
I working on a trunk floor right now like that. I'm covering the existing swiss cheese metal with fiberglass. Seems to be working so far. I don't know how this would work on a truck floor but it might be worth a try. Doesn't cost much.
You can buy patch panels for the floor. Since you just want it fixed and don't care hows it look. just lay it on top of the original one and weld it in. Then seal it up with POR15 or any other rust encapulator. If you don't have a welder, 3M make an adhesive for gluing in panels. Was shown on Trucks TV program.
3m has that double sided tape with the (red film to keep it from sticking to itself) I forget the name, but it is stronger that the two surfaces that need to be bonded. Very expensive.
Will the 3m adhesive work for floor panels that will have a good bit of weight on them (feet, seat, and other stuff)?
The panel fits inside the cab, so you have the remaining floor pan to support it. But if its's really bad, no good metal to ahdere to or to support the pan, NO.
