replacing floor pans/cab mounts some help

i'm replacing the floor pans and front cab mounts on my 71 f250 crew cab. question is whats the best way to do this? looks like i will i have to use a jack and jack up the body around the rocker panel to support it while i cut out the pan and cab mounts.where do i start after im ready for install? would i mount the cab mount to the frame and bolt it on then lay in the floor pan on top and start welding? let me know how yous did it any tips or tricks you know of let me know.

I have seen the cab removed completely & rolled to it's back giving full access to the the floor area. The crew could be a bit more difficult.

The front area of the floor pans is the same 65-79 so you might look for a complete truck donor and weld it in using overlapping techniques to weld back.

thanks john i must say i havent seen it done that way before unless they were on a rotisary but i already have new floor pans and cab mounts from LMC. around my area you won't find any good donor trucks that have a good usable floor for cheap. there either to good of condition to cut up or worse then mine.

When I did mine I only replaced the mounts and patched the floor.

I would do the floors and then carfully mock in the mounts. Mu mount fit in place againt the floor and then slid out against the factory seam and that was the perfect location.

Oh I jacked mine up with a highlift and a 2x4 cranes in between the rocker and the big pinch seam. Hard to explain but easy to see.

Only do one side at a time so you can go yo the other side and take measuments if you have to. It just takes a little pacience and planning. Don't just hack your way into it.

The coating lms puts on there pannels is only a sealer. Be shure go give everything a healthy coat of undercoating while it's still all clean. I put truck bed linner on the inside then too.

does the cab mount rest on the rocker panel along the side of the door? do you weld the cab mount to the floor all the way around or just do tac welds around it to the floor? and does anyone have the cab mount rubber bushing kit from LMC part #40-0126? i have it but don't know which rubber disk go's where and how they get assembled. does anyone have any pictures and info on how they go in? i need to find this out so i can start welding i have it all mocked up just need to figure out how the mounts go

I had the LMC parts and the metal bushings were too long for the front mounts the rear mounts bolted up just fine. I had to cut them to make the cab bolt up nice and snug. I don't have pictures but if you list the parts I think I can tell you the order of how they were assembled.

i have 4 different size rubber mounts and 4 different size washers i have two shorter bolts and bushings and two longer bolts and bushings. the rubber mounts from biggest to smallest are. biggest ones are round and flat on one side and have a smaller diameter rubber circle sticking up 1/8 inch on the other side. second biggest are just a tad smaller then the biggest and have half circles cut out around the side of the mount and holes all around the center hole also has a 1/8 inch raised smaller diameter ring on one side. third biggest are just solid round mounts with center hole they are also the thickest. and the smallest rubber mounts are plain round and are the thinnest of them all. the washers i have i got 2 of the biggest washers 2 second biggest washers 4 third biggest washers and 8 smallest washers. i hope this makes enough sense let me know

The mount panel goes againt the rocker seam. They just get plug or rose welds to hold them on. Just drill a 1/4in hole in the outer lip of the pannel and fill the holes in with a good hot weld. Make shure the area your welding on the floorboard is clean and good metal. The factory welds are about every 6 inches. I did mine at three because that's what modern cars have. Start at the front and work your way back. If you have clieco clamps it will make life way easyer. I have no idea where to buy them other than snap-on or The Yard Store online. The yard is way cheeper and honestly better. They have the absolute best tools. They are an aircraft tool store.

Oh yea. Lmc has an exploded view of the mounts in the catalog. From top to bottom. Head of bolt, small regular washer, cab mount sheetmetal, large heavy washer, big ruber isolator, frame mount, smaller rubber isolater, same sexes heavy washer, small regular washer, nut. That's how mine is.

Thanks for the info. My next question is I'm going to do a 3" body lift after everything is put together. does it still use the rubber mounts when I add the lift? If so how would the rubber mounts and body lift get set up in what order?

You still use the rubber mounts. The lift spacer goes on top of the whole mount configuration. Between the cab mount and the heavy metal washer.

Easiest is to have a photo bucket account and link the pictures from there using the picture icon and post the link to the photos in between the ][.
