I'm replacing the rubber floor in my cab. What's being used as a replacement for the original jute padding that's in sad shape? Is that jute padding still available?
My mat did not have backing attached, but it did come with it. I'm not sure what the 'good' mat is, but mine came from Dennis Carpenter,E3TZ-1013010.
I'd say that was a good mat..
The "new" floor I got was one in excellent condition from the JY. I fixed a couple of minute tears and painted it with SEM to the charcoal colour I wanted. I was wondering if another material could be used to pad it out a bit.

I am sorry, let me reword that, a Good mat would of CAME WITH jute
I used some self adhesive sound deadener leftovers from a generator installation.
it is closed cell foam with a layer of heavy vinyl and foil on top.
I bought a mat from LMC and it did not seem to fit very well.
That may well be my lack of installation talent.
I did leave it in the sun and use a heat gun.

I bought the mat because I needed something to replace the one I had.
It was also my first experience with LMC.
Their window crank and headlamp relay seem to be holding up fine...
If you don't even like the OEM mat that KsCop got, what is your recommendation?
Since the OP seems to already have a mat, I was mostly replying to his question of what (other than jute) could be used for padding.

I put an LMC OEM rubber mat in my '81 Flareside when I restored it and it fits and looks great. I put sound deadener under it first. I haven't had anything bad come from LMC ever and I have spent a ton with them over the last couple of years.
I even sent some new parts back to them that laid around the shop for almost a year that I decided not to use and they took them back, no questions asked

KsCop OEM mat is just fine. After all, how much better than OEM can you get for fitment.
As for sound deadening closed cell foam works great. Another option is "dynamat" or the like. I prefer loses Peal-n-seal.
