I have some rust starting on the frame of my 94 ranger and went to the hardware store and picked up a can of rust-oleum Rusty Metal Primer. Can i just get all the loose rust off then paint this stuff on? I would be doing 2 coats on it. should i paint over it with somthing after its done and dry.
Paint the frame first with cold galvanizing paint and then top coat that. It will prevent
rust for a long time. If you live in the snowy areas or near the beach painting the floor
pans, gas tank, oil pan and frame with the cold galvanizing will prevent rust for a long
time I left mine just silver cause I like the way it looks. I also put Zinc anodes on the
frame and the body to keep them from rusting any worse. My truck has spent it's whole life on the beachside and even being driven in brackish water regular, It is far
from rust free but it would be worse if I didn't do all that when I bought it!!
I painted it today and it came out pretty nice. I painted alot more then i thought i was gonna do but i only did one layer of paint. Ill try to put some more on it later this wk if it gets alitlte wormer. acouple spots i paint i never preped so ill have to hit the rust off it and repaint it.
