I always liked the clear 02,3,4 style lights. If I upgraded i would just do the lights and not the whole front end. I don't see a point to it. Different than what I have, but just like any other 05 up truck out there. If I just did the 05 lights, then it would be different b/c I would still have the 02 grile.
As far as "legal sucks" well yeah. For reason. I was behind a honda a couple of days ago with aftermarket tail lights. I couldn't see him hit his brakes they were so poorly designed. I almost hit him!!!!
I don't stick to the letter of the law though. I have HID lights up front. I aimed them so there isn't any glare, and it helps me see better.
The guy with the honda will never know till someone hits him and then it will be his fault!

I have a seen a difference after installing the 05 headlights on both my wifes Excursion:

and my own truck too. Although on mine I kept my 99 grille and Bumper, and she got the full treatment.
