I just found my new 6637 on the front porch. I yanked out the K&N and had the 6637 installed within a few minutes. No clearance problems. I took a wet paper towel to wipe-out the tube to the filter thinking the K&N wasn't filtering properly, and there was nothing. Clean as new.
Uhmm, this Kwikk or 6637 mod is among the simplest you can do. If you cannot overcome or do this one, you may need to keep it simple. It fits in there just fine.
On the 6637 mod, some folks have used a piece of 3" PVC coupling, but you end up reducing the inside diameter slightly on the intake side of the turbo, which will serve as a flow restrictor to some degree. Worst case is that you can take that approach and improve things in a non-ideal fashion if you absolutely cannot find the 4" exhaust pipe (which can be ordered from some online exhaust shops).
I did the 6637 mod and I had to loosen the hose clamp on the intake hose and rotate the filter slightly so it would fit under the hood. That is probably obvious but I thought I would mention it. I also left the bottom of the air box in place.
