So I'm wiring a 71 F250 for tow. I have a Draw Tite Activator II controller. I will be towing a Haulmark 24' trailer (20' box) and has a seven pin plug and electric brakes with Batt.
The 7 way connector wiring
white to ground
Blue to Controller
Green, Red, Brown lights
Yellow Center Aux (what is this used for)
Black to Battery Charge (Does this wire connect directly to vehicle batt to charge Trailer batt, or do I hook wire to Alternator.
Try this site..you need to have adobe acrobat reader installed on your system to read it. I think the centre is used for backup lights, not 100% on that , but here`s your wiring.
The center post on a 7 pin plug is for backup lights, the aux pin (your battery charge) supplys the batt on the trailer 12v from the truck battery. You need a circut breaker!! I belive it's 20amp.
The wiring your describing...is this the way the trailer is wired or the way you are wiring your plug?
Here are the standard wiring diagrams. Center pin (yellow) is aux on 7 way plug. Just fyi, be careful with 6 way connectors as there are 2 ways of wiring up.
Wow, that didnt work, i can email it to whoever wants it.
on 7 wire, (looking at plug on truck (female end))
OBTW, i dont think the Haulmark trailers use battery charge (at least my 20' enclosed doesnt) Center pin isnt used. The battery charge pin is what powers the lights inside the trailer. Use a test battery and make sure that your trailer is wired the way you want it (wether center is battery charge (if used) or interior lights or back up lights)
