Explorer Total Power Fail

2005 Explorer 4.0 2WD Eddie Bauer: Got Charging system check message. Both Alt & Batt checked out bad. Bought Both. Installed Batt only. Started right up. On way home to install Alt, made one stop - would not restart. No dash lights even. What are the possiblilities. Main ignition fuse under hood in fuse/ junction box? A relay?, Ignition switch? If fuse, is it under where red batt cable to box attaches? Or where? It is listed as #58 but not visible from above. Don't have test light - about to get one.

Did you check the battery cables to make sure they are still installed and secure? Maybe you forgot to tighten one down and it fell off the battery....
