no start can be for preventing theft. high idle can be to warm it up or raise the idle for ??

no start is a tune for when you leave your truck...unless the person knows how to change programs the engine won't turn over. i forgot i had mine on the other day and was sitting in a parking lot trying to start it. the high idle, i assume, is good for warming the truck up quicker in the winter/colder monthes. The higher idle is set prolly by an increase in gas flow to the engine while idling. high idle also has to be good for jumping other vehicles, the diesel tow trucks sound like they idle higher when the try jumping.

I have the Superchip powerprogrammer and have always been happy with it! There ARE other chips out there besides the DP! I know they will probably give you the highest increase in hp....but Superchip will also adjust shift points in tranny. I can tell a major difference when I have it in tow/haul mode compared to high performance. My chip has 90hp gain, 60hp gain for towing, or will save the stock tune.

The high idle tune is also good for letting your truck idle for long periods of time to prevent wet stacking. Some people like to let thier trucks idle for long periods of time in cold climates or if they are pulling long distance and want to stop and rest and not get cold in the truck. If you let the truck idle at the stock setting for long periods of time (i.e. several hours) the engine will wet stack and cause problems.

I personally would go with the DP, it's what I'm going to get when I get the money saved up. I would also do the 6637 mod. CCV mod, and the zoodad mod, when or before you get the chip. You will also want to get a bigger downpipe and exhaust, with a chip to allow better air flow. Also don't for get the gauges, unless you like cracking pistons. You will need a pyro guage for sure, many also get boost and tranny temp as well.

I ran the superchip for around 4 years. I thought that was the best. I got my DP-TUNER and there is no way I would ever go back to superchip. And no superchip does not tune the tranny. But you need more mods to run the DP-TUNER to its full power. Take the plunge and get DP you will not regret it.

I dont know what all my new truck has. The exhaust does not look stock to me. Can not find anything that looks like a normal muffler. Dont know what the intake looks like but if they modified the exhaust they probably did the intake also. The DP produst looked like it was $$569 and some change. What where you looking at that was a little over 300. The 300 is more in my price range right now. Also can you slowly upgrade these things or do you have to buy it all at once.

Get the DP Tuner, I had a Bully Dog chipand now have the DP. Way better throttle response and holds power though out the RPM range. The $300 is for no start(theft deterent) stock and one additional power gain. If I were you get the 80 econ tune. The remote is an additional $40 but customer service is way way better. Jody called me at home after he had supper with the wife and kids and went over what I was looking for and what mods I had on my truck. He even gave me suggestions on what i should do next and when I should get reprogrammed when I did certain things.

Thanks, like I said the only price i could find was 569. Besides the eco tune, i would like the race tune. I like the thought of murdering these little punks in civics and other little punk mobiles.

Yes, beating those cars rules in a 7400lbs truck empty. I had 6 people in my truck and wasted a Civic that was "so fast" that he didn't even want to waste his time. Laughs on him.
