Could overheating problems be caused by EGR problems. I am asking because i am looking into a truck that has overheated 3 times and the oasis says that the dealership only changed the EGR on each visit.
My second question is, how much damage can three overheats cause. On one of the overheats the engine was emitting clouds of white smoke out of the tailpipe and the engine shut down. Had to be towed to the dealer.
What kind of damage do you think this truck has.
Thanks
Sounds like the EGR cooler has failed 3 times, and yes this will cause an overheating problem. The root cause of the EGR cooler failure was a bad engine oil cooler, if the engine oil cooler has not been replaced, the the EGR cooler will continue to fail and the engine will overheat. Yes overheating is bad for the motor. I would want a serious inspection of this truck by a qualified 6.0 tech and a good warranty before i took the plunge and bought this one.
