The closest parts store to me is AdvanceAuto...about 4 miles away. Most of the people in there are pretty knowledgeable. The manager and asst. manager have both restored and built trucks and hot-rods from the ground up. If I need anything out of the ordinary, I ask or wait to speek to them. If they can't find it in the computer, they look it up in the book and cross reference part numbers and such.
Other than that, most of the other employees can usually find what you need without any hassle.
A couple years ago, I actually applied for a job there and got turned down. I even listed the vehicles I have worked on and helped restore, and my long-standing fourwheeling and ATV/Motorcycle hobbies.
But instead, a woman (whom I went to HS with) got the job because of her Double-D's. I overheard a conversation one day, and she had the nerve to ask the customer what a spark plug does... Yes, she really is that bad...

Yeah, but the lucky customer that got to explain it.....
Seriously, pretty sad that ***** won out over knowledge in an auto parts store. The best auto parts store I ever went to was staffed by three brothers (now two) and they were nothing to look at but they know parts.....
