Blowing off steam

Tonight I thought was going to be best nights in a long time. I only had to work 6 hours, I got paid today and I was going to come home and order my Roush Exhaust for my truck. I was having an awesome night until about 6AM this morning, 1 hour before shift change.

The first person to come in on the next shift is the QC lady. She's quite a bitch and has eyes like a hawk for inspecting parts. She comes over to my station and tells me about what's wrong with my parts. Tells my supervisor, then the next shift maintence guys come in to fix the problem. I had no idea the parts were bad, what pisses me off mostly is I wasn't trained to look for other problems other than what I know now.

I'm still somewhat of a noob at this place, been there for about a month and still learning. Everyone around there is pretty much a complete snob and think there **** don't stink.

My supervisor tells me "Oh it's cool man, happens all the time, we'll go through them tonight and sort them out" I think he was just saying that to butter me up based on his personalilty and now I'm questioning my future employment there. I stormed out of that place, didn't even let my truck warm up, and took off like a bad out of hell.

I don't even want to order my exhaust anymore, I'm too damn pissed about tonight and I just want to go get some sleep.

What kind of parts are you making?

Sounds like you need to establish some conversation with the QC lady, rather than blowing her off as a bitch. Tell her you want to learn and get her to help you out. That will soften her up a bit. Just don't take things like that too seriously.

What types of parts or assemblies are you making?

Try not to get too angry. Don’t let this difficult person ruin your day.

Learning to have people-skills is an important feature to a company. I once had a QC guy that was ridiculous. He always acted like he had something to prove. He had to find something wrong with everything even though there wasn’t.

The important thing is that your boss isn’t troubled by what happened and you will do your best with the next lot of parts.

You are new here. What you did was likely just part of the learning curve at your shop. They can be touched up and be on their way.
