Why is it every time I get a job you guys run it into the ground? Examples:
1. I worked for the railroad.
The railroads were slammed for being government subsidized.
2. So I quit and went to work for Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart was then promptly declared a corrupt imperialistic empire whose
ultimate goal is world domination.
3. And now that I get a job that I actually like (parts sales manager at AutoZone), it
starts to get hammered.
Now I've only been there about a week, but here's a few things I've noticed:
1. Some parts have alternate numbers in the computer. Some don't. If you know an alternate part that will work, I will gladly give you that part because there's usually 7 people behind you waiting for help. If the part YOU insisted on doesn't work, do not yell at ME for giving you the wrong part.
2. A part number, a part number, my kingdom for a part number! I cannot find a part who's sole description is "that rubber thingy that does that twisty thing". I will kick over every part in that storeroom to find your part if I can have a clue as to what that part is.
3. The upsale at the register is a company requirement. Employees NOT attempting the upsale can be written up or even fired. So just say no and let the people keep their jobs. That is, unless you would prefer them remaining with welfare bottom-feeders of society.
4. I completely understand wanting the cheapest parts. But a store can only keep so much of any given item and 80% of the customers are either low income or cheapskates or both, so naturally the cheap parts go fast. I will happily order it for you which takes 3 days or get it from a sister store which will be the next day but DO NOT expect the store to have an endless supply of insanely cheap parts.
I apologize for the rant, it's been a needlessly long day.
I have no problems with autozone, that was only one story I told, I have never had a bad experience there, they have always found what I needed, so no autozone bashing on my part.
I too, have no problem with Autozone. But on the other hand, I don't shop there either. No need to go out of country to get bad service. I can get that at McDonald's.
Wow! It must be nice to be able to walk on water and turn water into wine like you. You sir, must be perfect in every way because you never had to try to learn how to do anything, you just walked right up and did everything without any help.
I don't get frustrated when people are trying to help me. And I was helping her. When she turned the screen around for me to see I was giving her directions to find the parts I wanted. That's when she began losing patience because I was making her do her job instead of telling me "we don't have any". I'm not impatient. I don't mind if I have to explain something or repeat myself. What I have a problem with is this nintendo generation who seem to be lost when they're expected to do anything that can't be accomplished in under one minute.
Autozone is in Mount Vernon which is kinda far. But there's Advance Auto in Lynden and Bellingham. There it's called Schuck's Auto Supply but it looks just like Advance Auto. They will beat the Autozone price by 5% too if you ask. I had wrote down the prices off the internet and the guy at the counter rang them up with the discount.
Each of the chains have given me grief, but as far as incompetent staff goes, they're
just like the weather. If you don't like them, wait a little while. They change regularly.
I've learned to stay away from autozoo myself. I have a uncle who's the manager at the local Car Quest so I shop there, he gets me employee price on parts. I can get Car Quest blue box parts [the good stuff] for half the cost of the cheap crap at autozone.
I'd prefer car quest even if I didn't get a good price. Its nothing but real parts in there, no fart cans or neon lights on the shelves.
Hey Rednek, Get used to it. I managed auto parts stores for almost 20yrs.
Remember that the company doesn't pay your wages. The customers do.
The company just is the "in-between". You will survive retail longer once you realize this. I've been there.
The manager & trainer need time to develop people. Teach them to open a book as there are parts which those dammed computers don't and never will have in them.
All righty - For the rest of you.
What do you expect to get when you walk in to a parts "super market".
Kids, Kids, Kids. Yes you will have to endure their lack of knowledge in order to save those few dollars difference. Is your 2-3 trips worth it?????
Shop where the service garages in the area shop.
Listen to those experienced parts professionals as most want you to fix your vehicle on the first visit.
Most customers just disappeared after their day of repair if we were doing our job.
If they succeed in helping you. Call them or stop buy and tell them thanks.
Most are under paid and seldomly tipped ie : a cold Mt. dew on a hot day.
Also if you send your HOT wife in to get parts please give her a note with:
Make , Model , Year , Engine size + any pertinent information.
Find out if you don't know
She will have a better experience and not be a MAN hater and you won't have to be the husband from hell -w- the "stupid wife".
The guy in back of her or you will get help faster also.
my method for AZ and or Advance..check on line at their sites, Call ahead and use their # to see if they have it. tell them i want that part(if in stock) and to have it at the counter in an hr and get the clerks name so i know who to yell at.
