Quite sure, and the build date is 12/76. Model year 77 saw the introduction of the M-blocks in place of the FE's.

i can understand web's fustration.. the way i feel the term customer service has two meanings.. customer meaning the guy or gal there to buy stuff and service meaning you as the sales associate attend to his needs and get the items he needs quickly correctly and nicely the other and more connotation of service means something of a sexual nature or to screw and unfortunately more and more businesses seem to prefer the latter way of doing things
One of the problems i find with alot of the auto part chains is they never have the lesser priced things and always try to ram more expensive stuff down the throat the Strauss stores never has the $20 brake pads in stock and always has plenty of the $49.99 or 89.99 ones.. ive learned to just go down the street to the mom and pop store.. i mean the auto mechanics in the area never go to strauss ... need i ask why?

If you ever go to the hub store for Oreilly's in Wichita, don't get Joe. First time I remember getting him, he tried about a dozen times to give me O-rings for my injectors when what I wanted were the O-rings for the supply and return lines at the fuel rail. Finally he said he didn't have the right part and sent me to another store. When I got there, they had another box of injector O-rings waiting. So I went to AZ and they suggested I go to Home Depot or Lowes. Finally called back the first Oreilly's and Joe answered. I asked to speak to (I can't remember the woman's name, but she knows her parts!) and she said to get back over there. So when I walk in, Joe looks at me like, "Why would he be back here?" When the gal came back to the front I gave her the old O-rings and she went to get the replacements. Meanwhile Joe is hollering at her from the counter as he continues to look on the computer, that the computer says it should be this number. She hollers back that she doesn't need the da mned computer and comes back to the front 30 seconds later with 2 of each of the O-rings I needed. Even then, he continued to try to convince her and me that the computer says it should be this...

One time, I was looking for the evap for my wife's minivan. So even after I told him what I needed, he asked me if it had A/C. I told him that the evap was part of the A/C system and he says, "So, does it have A/C or not?"

The thing that generally bugs me most, in general, though, is when I'm looking for, say, U-joints, and they ask me, "Does this have A/C?" I actually had one guy look up the U-joint for a vehicle with and without. He got this look on his face like he discovered the sun and said, "Wow, they're the same, aren't they?"

Funny how everyones report on autozone is the same, its amazing that they stay in business. I think that place is more so ricer oriented which is why most on here, including myself dont care for it. I tend to stick to NAPA around here. They dont know everything but they are willing to try, are easy to work with, and have a great attitude.

I do think your second paragraph was just silliness.

They (PB,AZ, CSK, etc.) stay in business because the dealers are expensive and open limited hours. I also find some NAPA and independents even worse than Ford on limited hours and high prices. We put up with it because we dont want to wait unitil Monday morning and/or pay full price.

Well, I had the best thing ever happen at an autozone the other day.

Needed an oddball wrench that I have never used before for one bolt on my motorcycle, so I went in to an autozone (only a couple blocks away) Found the wrench i was looking for, (11 dollars) went up to the front to pay for it and it wouldnt ring up, the guy tried a few times, then he tried typing in the number off of the tag, still nothing. scanned it again, didnt work.

He handed me the wrench and said have a nice day!

Totally made my day, but then again, I did set off the security thing when I walked out since he didnt scan, he just laughed and waved me on. Pretty funny stuff!

Wow! It must be nice to be able to walk on water and turn water into wine like you. You sir, must be perfect in every way because you never had to try to learn how to do anything, you just walked right up and did everything without any help. And we all know that a person's weight is a factor on their intelligence. She and her "illegal" boyfriend should feel bad for ruining your day!

For someone who says they have a lot of patience, you seem to just be looking for reasons to get angry at anything.

I get angry when I go to the parts store too. But not at the foreigners who might not have grown up with a computer or have a very basic understanding of the language. I get angry at the 18 year old white kid who got a job because he B.S'd his way in there saying he and his dad built this and that, grew up using a computer in school and at home, and still doesn't know how to use it at work to look for something or tells me that my car "never came from the factory with that".

I had an AZ cashier (who looked like he had a drug problem) try to ring up my order and made it look like the register wasn't working. I had a full case of oil and some miscellaneous parts - about $60 worth. After dicking around with the register for a while he says "just give me $20, that's close enough".

I gave him $20 and walked out with the stuff. The next afternoon I went back, saw the manager and sold them back all their stuff for $20 cash. I wrote out a statement for the police.

No telling how much this clown pocketed instead of ringing it up.

I must have the only AZ that is competent. What I do is go online, and list everything I need. making sure it is in stock at that particular store. Then I send the list to them, and all my parts are waiting for me when I arrive. If it happens that a part is said to be there, and is not. I get a 10% discount from the store that does have it.

This is what I talking about. The mom & pop stores. Autozone (read idiotzone) and Pepboys (read nerdboys) will never get a penny from me again. I have to drive 17 miles one way to get to a mom, pop place but ohh is it soooo much worth it. They have harsh Italian accents, but at least I can understand them. At idiotzone, I would need a translator! When this mom, and pop store is gone, I will be sol. My poor grandkids are going to have to inherit these morons. I hope they figure out a way to get rid of the chains, and let little business thrive again!

The second post says it all; it is the fault of the manager! I frequently go into the local Autozone here, and the service is excellent and the employees go out of their way to assist. Why? Because the manager watches their performance and their raises and bonuses are a direct result of their efforts. Don't blame Autozone; blame the locla manager. The employees and service are his responsibilities and any faults should be brought to his attention.

I see this every day, I work as a manager for Wendy's here in northern ohio. The last time my crew got a raise was the beginning of the year, and the only reason our idiot of a general manager gave it to them was that min. wage went up. There are people in this store that haven't had a raise in over 5 years. Needless to say I've been looking for a new job as the GM is an idiot, and the owner is so tight he squeaks.
