What are your rear diff temps?
I changed my fluid this past weekend, and got a nice temp drop. That got me to thinking - what are typical rear diff temps? I know it's not the most accurate for actual fluid temp, but I used an IR temp gun to measure the temp of the rear cover to give me an approximation. It was in the 140-145 range after a 2 hour, 75 MPH highway cruise.
So, what are you all seeing for your rear diff temps?

I'll have to bring my IR gun with me on my next outing.
Trailer's put to bed for the winter, so it will be a while.

I get the same temps from my autometer gauge. Towing up I-80 at high speed I saw around 190.

What do you think the difference in temp would be between actual fluid temp from a gauge and the temps taken from the cover?

At the cover it should be really close to the fluid temp. I am seeing around 140 on mine after a moderate highway drive.
