Santa bought me a mag-hytec rear diff cover. I bought a temp gauge for the rear. My question is, the supplied sender unit scews into the sending port on top of the new cover but does not have contact with the fluid. The temp gauge is electrcal/short sweep by auto meter. I would think that the sender must have contact with the fluids but maybe I am wrong. The tranny and oil senders have direct contact with the fluid.Thanks.
I don't have a diff gauge yet...but I would imagine that the sending port is placed on top for a reason. The diff fluid doesn't stay on the bottom of the pumpkin when the truck is rolling.
i know that its your truck, but, why do you want a diff temp gauge? my 66000# tri axle wrecker has 3 diff temp gauges, but that is strictly for heavy towing, lifting, recovery. IMO, i wouldn't waste my money... spend it on something useful.
