I have an alternator light that stays on. What could be the problem?
How do you fix a fuel guage thats incorrect; he guage or sender unit needs to be replaced?
Oil pressure guage not working...could it be the sending unit?
Thanks for all your input.
If your gauges all starting failing at the same time, you might check the "constant voltage" regulator mounted on the back of your gauge cluster (speedometer housing). It creates a reference voltage for your guages. Also, check your chassis ground wire(s).
The gas gauges aren't super accurate; it could be that the brass float from the sending unit has a pinhole; remove it from the tank and if it feels heavy and/or sloshes inside when you shake it, a new one is around $5 from any of the sponsors or other suppliers. The gauge itself is usually not the problem.
Oil pressure might be a loose wire...or as you've mentioned, the sending unit.
