I read that there is a silver box on the back of the instument cluster that could of gone bad that is the voltage regulator but i do not see it on my guage cluster,
i have checked all the fuses and I mis-spoke before fuel guage also works. I was wiring the truck for an alarm the only wires I have taped into though are a black/ w green stripe and a red/ w blue stripe for remote start. U gave checked grounds I am asuming the two under each kick panel, plus chassie cab and motor.
there are three connectors on the back of the PSOM and if you have lights then you are getting some power through at least some of those wires. I would find it hard to believe that any of those connectors has gone loose, they are in there really tight. This issue, without more info, looks to be a not-very-common issue.
alright so it was a fuse after all..... the wire had worn away the plasic protection on the back of the fuse [anel so when I replaced because I blew it I thought that i was good well it was still touching I did not know any of this because I thought I origanally blew the fuse while testing circuts for the alarm. Went back and douple check everything and fuse was blown again so I started looking at wies and found the rubbed through one we are now fixed and runningn like a champ again.
