I have a 2000 ford f150 lariat the voltage guage is giving me problems
when i turn on the ignition the guage reads in the middle but when i start the engine the needle falls down to a no reading or to the bottom after driving for a while varies the guage needle will start to pulse around and will finally return to the middle of the guage as it should normally be
I have replaced both the alternator and the battery and have tested the voltage output etc all are ok
Is their a relay in line with the guage and the battery which could be faulty
I read on another forum that a member had this problem and finally found a bad or corroded wire leading from the altenator to the battery, causing the volts guage to jump around alot.
thanks for the suggestion I will recheck the wiring
the reason i ask about a relay is that i was wondering if the circuit to the guage is changed after the truck has started and the key position is different
