It's Sunday so nothin is open but my truck for the last few days when I go to start it when I turn the Key on the battery light is on and the guage is sitting right on the bottom line of the guage it starts but starts like it would with a week battery ( get the wrrr sound) once it starts up within a few seconds the guage climbs up to where it's supposed to be. So could it be a battery goin bad not thinkin it's the alternator cause it seems to be charging it. Thought maybe voltage regulator but thought that wouldn't let the alternator charge the battery. Any ideas?
Well checked the relay and Post 2 had 11. Something volts post 4 was zero post 5was like .54 post 3 was .3 something. I will drive into town tomorrow and have them check batteries I guess.
Ya I always replace both now the ones I have nOw are red top optimas probably won't go that route again they are probably 6-7 years old so it may be the culprit I will post up my findings tomorrow. There is a shop in town that deals with just mainly electrical problems they roll out there fancy Snap-on machine. Hopefully they can figure it out just thought I would try to trouble shoot it on my own first. I hate dealing with electrical crap.
I have the same problem with both my 350 & Ex if I dont drive it for a week. Both batts have been changed at same time. I never ck'd the GPR but now I know how to ck it. Right now my truck is sitting with a Battery Tender on it till I get home.
Well they never punched a date on the batteries when I got them so I wonder what the warrenty is on optimas. If I do have to buy new ones I will probably go with the diehard dry cell or just get some Les Schwab specials. I know the factory motorcraft are good but the stealership here will rape you on anything you buy.
I'm luck y to get 3 years on batteries haha. My f250 is a little easier on them than my Excursion though... I usually get a warranty done on those before three years no matter what batteries I use.
