Hey guys, I am posting this for my dad since computers are not his thing. I am also out at sea, so I can only describe what he is telling me, so bear with me. He has a 1997 F-150 extended cab XLT 4x4 w/ 5.4 L V-8. He just started having problems engaging his electronic shift 4x4. There are three things that have happened lately:
1) it clicks like it wants to engage but doesn't
2) the 4x4 light on the dash comes on but nothing happens
3) Nothing happens, no lights and no clicking noises
Now I have done a search and it looks like it could be the vaccum lines or the little electronic motor attached to the t-case. Like I said I am not around the truck so I can't check it right now, but is their any other possibilities if it is not the vaccum lines or the little motor? Thanks!
Assuming he has checked under dash fuse 23 and under hood fuse 17 the shift motor may be bad. If it shifts into 4 hi/4 lo and just doesn't engage the front axle, read here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post5040860
