Hey guys,
Haven't posted here in ages. Thought I'd spend a few minutes tonight poking around some.
My 2005 is closing in on 276,000 miles now.
Still runs like a top. Burns no oil.
Transmission (automatic) still working fine.
STILL on the original serpentine belt.
Still the only part I have had fail was the right rear axle oil seal at about 115K. Replaced it in the driveway and all has been fine since.
Carry on.

After reading and responding to the post on "what's the deal with the 4.2?" I was wondering...are there any (especially 2000 and newer) high mileage 4.2L motors out there. I'm talking factory motors that have never been in to. AT 53,000 mine (2000)is fine, but I figure there have got to be trucks out there with higher mileage. Feedback ???
Thanks,
Brian

2005 F150 4x2 4.2l 78,000 mi. EGR valve at 50,000. Otherwise nothing so far (knock on wood). Does have a few strange noises/rattles going on though. And the lifters are making a little more noise than they used to. Regular oil changes every 3,000 with Motocraft 5w-20

My 07 F150, 4.2V6 has 144K miles on it. I use PENNZOIL PLATINUM EURO 0W40 oil and a WIX synthetic oil filter. With the 0W40 oil, my engine has never been as quiet as it is currently.
At 130K miles I had the RMS and oil pan gaskets replaced. Still under warranty at 32K miles, internal trans. solenoids and wiring harness replaced. At 14K miles, the whole top end was removed and de-carbonized due to a faulty PCV system.
I get 16-18 mpg city, 20-22 mpg highway. As long as you take care of your vehicle, it will take care of you. Add a drain to the trans pan and drain/replace the fluid every 24-30K miles. Drop the pan every 60K and replace the filter. Change/flush the coolant every 5 years/50K miles. Change the differential fluid every 75-100K miles. Flush your brake fluid and PS fluid every 60-75K miles. I do these PM items and my truck still runs like brand new.

I miss my old 4.2
. My 4.2/5-speed manual/3.55 gears seemed to have almost unlimited torque below 3000 rpm! By 4500 the party was all over 'cause it didn't want to go that high! LOL
With a basic architecture that had been around since the 1980's it was simple, reliable, and felt like it would run forever...

I'm having a recurring misfire with cylinder # 3. Have to clean the spark plug every two to three thousand miles or it will start lugging while cruising with light acceraltion around 45 miles per hour. Doesn't look like oil fouling to me -more whitish. Took it to a shop because it was hard to turn over once or twice in the winter so I was worried that it may be going hydrolock on me since sometimes I can smell antifreeze, and they said there was no issue with that and that is just an old engine. ????? Well, at a later date the idiots at this shop screwed up my isuzu in a bunch of different ways, so I don't think they know what they're talking about half the time.
At random times I could get a slight wiff of antifreeze in the winter time and there would be residue on top of the oil filter cap also. Sometime last winter I put some coolant system stop leak in it, so I will see if that has any effect on anything.
I'm the second owner of this truck. The first owner had it for 19 years and according to the carfax report,he dealt with the dealership for maintenance and the one recall it had for a fuel line.
