My 04 Heritage had the intake gaskets changed around 80,000 and now has 110k on it. The only other things I changed was the spark plug wires, plugs, both o2 sensors b4 realizing it was the intake gaskets that were leaking. Just recently first start of the day it takes a few seconds longer than normal.
I started using Motorcraft Syn Blend 5w-20 over 2 years ago. Trans has been flushed twice, rear diff fluid changed twice so far.
Otherwise still a good running truck.

This is an interesting thread to follow.
Old as dirt too!
I am at 209,500 now. I got new front struts a week ago. (I use Monroe because they work good and have free lifetime replacement.)
New plugs and wires the week before last.
Still running perfectly.

I bought my 1999 supercab f150 4x2 with a 4.2l in it a little over a year ago. I bought it with about 98k miles and it now has a little over 120k. I use valvoline max life in it and the truck runs like a champ. All I have done is changed one alternator (a common ford problem in my experience). It has made a funny whining noise since I bought it, but I figure after this many miles, if it was serious then it would have given me a problem by now.

I have a 99 F-150 with 154k on the orig 4.2 , actually I only use this as my plow truck now for my 4000 ft long dirt driveway and have never had to change anything on this truck aside from brakes, oil changes , 1 alternator and 1 serpentine belt, even the waterpump is orig on this truck.... I dont think I would hesitate to drive this truck across the country if I had to.... although I would change that water pump before I left on that journey now that I think about it..

Again, an interesting thread to keep up with.
I just looked back at the first post: August 2001!
Me? 211,000 miles and counting.

I am really glad to see so many high numbers here. Makes me feel a lot better about my 121k miles now, my 4.2l is still a baby
My truck is in near mint condition, aside from one small area starting to rust above the rear fender well. This thread gives me hope that I will be able to keep this truck for a fairly long amount of time

boy oh boy... our 97 f150 only has 54k, 5speed, 4x4, manual tcase, and a oil change about once every 25k, yes, every 25,000 miles. still comes out clean. but it needs a clutch, i burnt it when we first got it and now it slips everynow and then pulling our 19 foot fishing boat.

My brother has a 2002 F-150 XL Sport 4X4 Regular Cab Short Bed with the 4.2L V6 and 5-spd manual transmission. He bought it new in late 2001 and it now has 145,000 miles on it with no problems except some belt that failed?!?!?!? Not sure what the belt was called because I'm no mechanic, lol. It made the truck overheat and not wanna go but that's the only problem and that happened at about 138K or so. When the truck hit 100K miles my brother did some modifications. 5" body lift, Dual Flowmaster Exhausts, Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer, K & N Cold Air Intake, and he has 33" tires rapped around beautiful 20s. It's a good looking truck! Right now the bracket that holds the exhaust system up rusted in two and he's running straight pipes until further notice. It don't sound too bad that way but expect many very-UNTROUBLESOME miles ahead! Thanks!

2000 f 150 with 296000. i have gave this truck hell. i ran it like a dog. i have pull a 6 yard dump tuck full of dirt with it. she didnt like it but she did it. i used to pull my 27' travel trailer with it. that is when i learned the inportance of trailer brake hook ups on a truck. hell of a ride. i plan on driving it untill the tire fall off, put em back on and drive some more. i love my truck.

I have a 2002 F-150 reg. cab 5 spd with 192,000+ on the 4.2 engine. I have had no complaints at all about this truck. Had to replace the cam shaft positioning sensor, alternator and slave cylinder; and of course a battery, spark plugs, etc. Finally replaced the shocks last month. The truck still runs as strong and smooth as the day I bought it. I keep looking at buying another truck, but in reality, I will probably keep this truck until it refuses to go anymore.
