Drain and pull the Rad.
The Rad mount (big heavy u shaped piece) holds all the sheet metal together.
You might be able to sit the doghouse in the bed. I've got a panel so I don't know for sure.

I think it would have to be stood on end (cowl side down) and you risk a few scratches/dents unless you've got lots of blankets. (I assume you are thinking of putting it in this truck's bed, not some other). I carried a '51 front clip home in a LWB '78 Ford F-150, it fit but the wheelwheels of the '78 prevented it sitting down flat.
I was thinking on end, nose down, in the back of the Truck what owns it.
I keep forgetting there may be Dressup Trucks out there.
I rolled mine forward so it was sitting on the bumper, lifted (dropped) it to a milk crate, then onto my toes. I then placed it on a two wheel dolly and moved it into the garage where it sat (on it's nose) for a year before I dissmantled it.
Treat 'em as a Show Pony and thats how they'll act. (L)
Using the four mainifold bolts for the pull should work just fine. There was a fairly extensive article in HotRod or Mustangs & Fords about a year ago. They tested the holding strength of the four maifold bolts and found that they are more than sufficient for an engine pull.

I think you are talking about the four carb mounting bolts, usually 5/16" bolts, used on OHV engines. That is fine for a 302, 351, etc. On a flathead Ford engine, there are only 3 carb bolts and the engine weighs quite a bit more than a 302/351/etc. It is much safer to lift with four of the intake manifold bolts (that hold the manifold to the block) after removing the manifold.
Guys thanks for the info on this thread. I pulled the front sheetmetal on the 54 this Sat. I'm glad I did. It was really easy. It sure will make replacing my motor mounts easier. I have a Camaro subframe with a late model 5.0. One of the homemade motormounts is cracked so I have to redo it. While I am at it I'm going to move my motor forward towards the radiator. The Previous owner set the motor so far back that the firewall had to be recessed about 6 inches. I'll have to fix the firewall too. Having the sheetmetal off makes total sense with what I have to tackle.......Thanks again!..........

Yes, that is a dead mouse in the oil pan. When I bought the truck, the fuel pump was missing. I assume he got in there, lost his footing in the valley area and fell into the oil pan and drowned.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with mice in my engine...

Vern,
Last night I read this post and I was going to make some form of smart-alek remark, but in the end I figured I have razzed you enough over it and decided to let sleeping dogs (mice???) lie. ( I better go see a doctor...............I can't believe I passed up an opportunity like that..............)

Bobby,
While I appreciate the thought, I know it took everything you had to hold back and it's not good to hold things in like that. It's history now...so razz away!
And Dick, I did have mice in my motor and it's a mouse motor to boot!...
