uh thats why ford only offers 12month warrenties right? they really back there products, even the engines are only 12 month 12k now, that should really tell you something, i wont even get into the "Ford Quality" issues i had working at the dealership, Ford remans are the exception to the rule "You get what you pay for"
I go to a small shop that rebuilds their own parts there...
I agree, I think this is the best route to go. Find a local shop that rebuilds them, and you will probably get the best product. And you know who to yell at if it quits!
That, or just do the starter yourself. Alternators can be harder to repair, and I generally don't mess with them, but there really isn't much to go wrong with starters. If you can find the wear parts, primarily brushes, then for less than $20 you have a like new starter again. Just clean them up, polish the commutator a little, judaciously apply a little grease and you're good to go.
the manager from Auto Zone told me that they have a big problem with all of there rebuilt electrical stuff (lots of returns) because the company goes to low bid on all there vendors .......
Talk about backing your product, the above quote is exactly what the manager said to me........ Would you have faith in there parts if they do'nt on top of that youre shut down twice in 2 days with 2 differant starters?
Any way I got my Ford rebuilt today its clearly marked as remanufactured in USA, the Auto Zone is remanufactured in Mexico........
and you really think that ford spends bookoo bucks to rebuild their parts? have you ever worked at a dealer and seen their products? what are you basing your fight on? i really dont care what you say about advance or autozone, if you have the problem you claimed before then your arguement needs to be in court and not here. they have good quality parts at affordable prices and honor all warrenties that end up being lifetime, not 12 months,
