I was wondering if any one sells an after market starter for my 95 psd. I am going to have my starter replaced and i would like to know what my options are. If there are no after market options could someone recommend where to get one. I was looking at napa's website for starters and i saw they have some that are 3.6kw and 2.5kw. Could someone tell me what stock ones are and if the 3.6kw is better off getting. What about remanufactured or brand new. Any info would be a help

I also have the starter blues , a word of advice stay away from AutoZone starters just plain Junk,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I also bought a new NipponDenso starter but when it arrived turns out it was actually a after market unit made in China I sent that one back also, next stop on my quest for a good starter was my Ford dealer they have a starter that is remanufactured by Ford for 200 dollars, so thats what I use
what was bad about the autozone starter. I just called them and it has a lifetime warrenty for 177 with 180 core charge
The Auto Zone lasted 8 months then it would not start the truck when it was parked in the my customers driveway, I lost a days wages cause the starter went. I went back to Auto Zone and got my 2nd starter under the life time warrentee put it in the next day and went to work and bingo in another custmers drive it would not start, took it out went back to Auto Zone and they put it on the tester and said its a bad starter so I got another one, but then the manager from Auto Zone told me that they have a big problem with all of there rebuilt electrical stuff (lots of returns) because the company goes to low bid on all there vendors ....... I also have had problems in the past with Auto Zone batteries and one bad altenator so i am done with Auto Zone for electrical parts. I went to Ford and got a factory authorized rebuilt for 194 dollars and 75 on the core, it has a 12 month warrentee...
i have always had good luck with advance and autozone, my alternator came from autozone, lifetime warrenty, its a paladine reman....all parts on it are stamped ford motor company!!!!! and it only cost me 134 dollars. the starters are the same way warrenty wise, i have had better luck with advance's starters but the warenty is the same at both stores and our starters are cake to replace so i am not spending bookoo bucks on a "Good" starter or alternanotr. the only thing i wont buy from them would be hard parts like ring and pinions and other big stuff, but for most things they are really good. most of the parts for my 383 came from there, the oil pump cost 12 bucks and its been on there for 11 years now and had tons of abuse, the warrenty comes in great for starters on it, i cook them a good big with the larger tube, full length headers. to give you an idea, replacement of the starter on my charger involves removing the header on that side its so tight, but the starters are free. i used the expensive 300 dollar race one and cooked 2 of them and said the hell with it and bought the advance special for 30 bucks and never looked back. the water pump on my 7.3 is advance's and fit perfect and works just fine. i guess long story short i have never had anyworse deals from advance or autozone than i have from a dealer or race parts store, and you definatly cant touch their pricing
Visteon and Orange County starters are alittle highter cost than others, but they are essentially BRAND new starters. They put in all new components and reuse the case basically. Remans are scary depending on the brand. I paid 230.00 for the Visteon.
direct from advance...209 fora brand new starter...not remanned and it has a lifetime warrenty as well. autolite's reman is 142 with lifetime warrenty and 2 year free roadside assistance http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductL...rchFor=Starter
Direct from Advance or do you mean China? I bought one of those so called brand new Nippon Denso but it was a copy cat after market made in China ,junk imop,,,,,,,,,,, the Asian connection is the biggest source of low quailty junk available to the American consumer..... After I got the snow job on the so called brand new Nippon Denso I did a little checking around and found that to get a real new Nippon Denso or mitsubishi you have no choice but the dealer as a source.....
well then if thats the case, and you bought an advertised "brand new" part that was a reman then you have a perfect case for false advertising and need to pursue it, i have never had a problem with them and they cover anything that goes bad, remans are remans and new is new. never seen a mitsubishi brand part for a 7.3 anyway
you will also be surprised then if you do you research into who does the remanning for ford
I don't know who or where Ford's starter are remanufactured, but I sure would be surprise if the sent them back to Bengji , Ill post back tomarrow where they come from. .......... but where ever they come from they are backed by Ford and not low bid like Auto Zone, after being stranded twice in 2 days with a bad starter I am a bit gun shy and lookin hard for quality more than price or warrentee......
