intercooler vendor question

i will be honest.... i was trying to take a little cheaper way out. buddy of mine gave me an IC off of a 2001 7.3L that is in great shape. i have been working upwards of 50 hour weeks on the road and since i am not married i work on weekends too and i just dont have the time to make a kit like i used to when i was in skool. i was trying get an install kit from GTS b/c it looked great with all the brackets and spyder pipe and boots. however i am having a heck of a time ordering from him.

i have not found a phone number so my only contact is through e-mail. i have told him straight up i want top buy his kit, i have the money and am more than willing to order it on the spot. he has been very shady about the whole deal and cant seem to get a straight response from him. here are the e-mails i have gotten from him.

----------------------------------
Jason,

You need the full kit? Send me your shipping info and
I'll get you a total with shipping. Just FYI it may
be next monday before I can ship it depending on if
one that is spoken for gets taken or not.

Thanks
Geoff Thomas
-----------------------------------
Jason,

Yeah that compressor is going to pose a major problem
with trying to get pipes through there. If you can
squeeze one under the compressor you could probably
get it in there but it's going to be a custom job to
make that pipe and what I have won't bolt directly on.

I do have one kit but I have someone else that just
said he wanted it. I haven't seen payment or
confirmation for it yet but it sounds like he is going
to take it. If you are still interested in it let me
know and if he doesn't take it it's yours.
--------------------------------------
Jason,

I'm sorry to say that the other guy got back to me
first. Sorry to keep you waiting on the reply. If he
backs out for some reason I'll let you know.

Thanks
Geoff Thomas
----------------------------------------

his last e-mail was 5 days ago and i have e-mailed him almost everyday since.

is there another vendor i can try? i NEED an IC before my next big haul which is coming up the first of september and would like to have it done in time to actually put it in and test it out

please help

Banks sells a kit. I have no idea on the cost though. You can see it here. http://store.bankspower.com/Categori...b-925a98ad639b

Yeap you have GTS'ed. thats just how he operates from what I hear from other who have dealt with him. I think he makes a few kits then waits a while to get orders waiting them build those and a few extras. so it takes forever to get your tubing.

There is a third party web site that sells the banks tubing kit I can't remember who it is but I will try to find it

thanx guys for the response. i would be FAR less aggravated with him if he would just convey that to me. i understand people have their way of doing things and thats just how it is. i have a problem when you have a person or a business that leads you on and leaves their customers in the dark.

I have contacted Banks asking for a price quote so we will see if they are a better avenue to take.

if anyone has any suggestions about doing this project feel free to chime in. i already know it's going to be a challenge getting those pipes in with my York OBA compressor in there but I like a challenege!

Thanks again guys

After looking at your pics of your York I really think you will be much better off building your own pipes. The Driverside pipe is really easy so that will not take much time at all but the passenger side one is harder to build anyway then having to get around that compressor is honestly going to be a nightmare! I have contemplated a york compressor a number of times but the IC tubing is quite possibly going to make it impossible. It probably can be done but you will be completely hacking the banks pipe apart. The good thing if you do get the banks stuff is the y-pipe is very nice and you will have no work to do for the drivers side.

I still haven't located that other vendor for the banks stuff but they were much cheaper than thru banks directly let me keep looking.

yea i know, lol. but the way i have that compressor sideways i think i can squeeze the piping under it. if i absolutely have to i can remove the compressor for now and come back to it at a later date. but i will have both somehow!

thanks for digging up that link, i think i am going to go with them since the banks kit is $100 cheaper than the GTS kit. and i bet i can order it right now, lol.

do you know what size piping it is they use? i don't mind hacking it up if i know i can make it work/fit. if i can dig up some spare pipe i would feel MUCH better!

thanks tim

its 3 inch pipe, I am pretty sure its the same size as superduty pipes so you could find a couple of those for spare bends. I think you can get it underneath the compressor. You will be happy with the banks kit. very nice stuff.

is the 7.3 IC going to keep my truck cool enough or should I look into a 6.0 or even maybe a Banks IC?

thanks for the help, I am going to see if i can find some pipe on ebay with the bends in them already

I did the 7.3 cooler and honestly wish I had done the 6.0. I don't tow much but I don't have very good programming so my temps can and do get high. I would get the 6.0 cooler if I were you.

What about the methanol / water kits. They are easy to install and work off of your pyro temps. All you have to do is drill a hole in the y pipe you have already.
What is wrong with using this kind instead?

These kits are half the price I believe and work to keep the egts down. I don't know is there someone out there who has done both or heard about which is better?
