Disclaimer: I have never used water injection so this is just my observation based on nothing but speculation.

Water/meth works well but its not as effective thru out the full range of temps in normal driving as an IC. If you were to use it alone to control EGT's you would have to carry alot of the water/meth. IMO it's meant for either 1/4 mile/truck pulling or to be use along with an IC.

What kind of gains did you see with the 7.3 intercooler. I tow sometimes but not a lot and not a lot of weight.

i beleive teh water\meth was designed to be used when you pull hills, its not meant to run continuosly, i have an artical on water meth kits installed on our style trucks, i'll dig it up and investigate, i have the 6.0 cooler in mine but no gauges so i cant tell you how it performs but it is a very tight squeeze to get it crammed in there, it does fit though. check out my link in my sig for detailed photos of it. i made all of my piping myself, wasnt bad took a day to redo my pipes to put them exactly where i wanted them. in my opinion an intercooler with water\meth is the way to go

This is all good info. My issue: I have heard that if you use too much water it could cause rust in the engine somewhere. Also if there is too much meth it gets hot insted of cooler. I believe you can buy it pre mixed at 49%/51%. I am not sure on the reliability of the source I heard it from. The rust issue scared me. If I get his system I would use it on hills primarily when drag racing a 150 and I have the 36' 5th wheel. LOL...Uphill both ways.

Someone verify this or correct me please. Maybe someone here has meth???????

this is great info guys! i knew the water/meth method was to cool it down but was unclear about several aspects. i think after i put on my new turbo and run an IC system i may look into the water/meth injection for long hauling up steep grades.

one question though.... i have a 25lb propane tank that i want to use for propane injection. can you run both water/meth injection along side propane injection? i dont want any system/component i add to conflict with each other.

thanks a lot guys

That is going a bit far for power adders. I installed the 7.3l SD intercooler on my truck and used the banks Pipe kit. Everything fit great, the only thing I had to do was cut off some of the intercooler tubes to make them shorter for the pipes to fit better, but it works great. As for the difference between the 6slow and 7.3 inter coolers I don't see how one would out perform the other, but either way you go IC is the best overall thing to help you out with controlling EGTs

the 6.0 cooler is much bigger than the 7.3 so it allows for the air to cool more

I just didn't like the plastic end caps, I've had issues with radiators like that leaking at the seals, but thats my own opinion. Both work great tho.

BTW I have 4 3" pipes that are pre-bent to 90deg if anyone wants them, I was going to weld them up for my own piping, but I just went with the banks pipe kit.
