Hello, I have a 97 f250 7.3 and I have a prolbem with the air condtioning in my truck. There is a new compresser, condenser and I think a new evaporator on it but it still doesn't get cold even when i got it tested. I have it on at max a/c. They said it had a full charge. So my question is can I put a bigger system component in so it will be able to get colder? I like it real cold lol Maybe a big rig system?
Thanks for the help,
Greg
Have you measured the temps coming out of the vents? The temp will vary with ambient air temps and sun load but you should see at least 45F. My temp today were 40F, it's 90 degress and partly sunny. It should take about 10-15 minutes to get to full cold on Max AC with the engine idling, a little quicker if you drive it.
Since you have all those new parts and a full charge I'd say that the heater portion of the HVAC isn't turning off completely. It's controlled by the temperature blend door. If it's not fully closing off the hot side of the HVAC box, then the AC will not get as cold as it could.
Try this for a quick test: Turn on full heat, vents only, see if you can reduce the temp of the air coming out of the vents. If it is really hot but you can't lower the temp.
BTW: You can post this in the AC forum too: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum61/
There are some very knowlegable guys there that are more than willing to help, good guys here too, more is better tho.
I put ball valves to block hot water from getting in the cab. Now it's to cold for the wife. You might check the white vacuum line under the hood by evap case they break and the door for max doesn't open.
also if they siad its at full charge check to make sure the clutch is good on the fan, if its slipping your high side pressures will skyrocket and you wont see any cool air
i'll jump the green machine after i install a new rear rubber brake line, the factory one is too short with the lift kit and i would hate to have no brakes on landing

I think he meant to post that in my "fun in the sand" thread. they were talking dukes of hazzard over there!
To the OP you should certainly have better cooling. there is still something wrong with your system. The condenser might be full of dirt and bugs, the clutch might not be turning on, the blend door could be stuck/not working, may not be fully charged (stranger thing have been lied about by shops).
i'm no ac expert, but it the pressure switch working, and someone mentioned the clutch slipping. maybe the clutch solenoid's wiring is bad somewhere.
those valves in the heater hoses are good idea too, i think there is a mod so you can hook up a vacuum valve and have open/close automatically. maybe on baz's page or a thread here.
